Pros

Good technology, large scale, a lot of technical problems to solve, you will learn a lot

Cons

A lot of politics, there is no great acknowledgement of achievements, you have to deliver at every single moment in your life to reach a happy situation, work life balance is really bad and it's really hard to estimate the tasks cost

Pros

Smart people, good managers, very good customer focus which drives all business decisions and helps to innovate. Many good development tools which remove burden. However, since Amazon is big, this hugely varies between different departments and teams so be careful where you go.

Cons

Like in any big company, most technologies and tools are internal and make the experience hardly applicable anywhere else. Cheap and sluggish developer workstations (forget SSDs). Strict policies around personal projects even remotely competitive to Amazon business(es).
