Pros

Amazon.com does give stock option or stock rewards very generously as a singing bonus offer, and even entry level engineer will get some substantial amount.

Cons

Almost every SDE has to carry a pager and there is an on-call rotation for every team. Not good if you have a family.

Pros

Great benefits and compensation, good work environment

Cons

LONG HOURS. Don't expect to have a social life while working for Amazon.

Pros

Lots of exciting project to work with ranging from Cloud Computing to all aspects of e-commence. Live in Amazon.com is never boring.

Cons

Except for teams working on Cloud Computing, most teams working on traditional e-commerce are project driven and led by former PMs so the upside for SDEs to become managers is limited.
