Pros

Amazon is a very innovative work place where everyone from bottom to top can can contribute and make history. It is growing at an incredible pace and this gives me a lot of motivation to do my job. I also like a lot people working with me and its amazing to see how the whole company acts as a big team.

Cons

Everyone overworks and it is a vicious circle where you get trapped and you also feel like you have to work more to be at the same level of the others. On one side it is in your head, in the other one it is reality. I had colleagues being defined as bad performers just becaus they were working 9h/day instead of the typical 12h/day of the rest of the team. And obviously, if you compare achievements without taking into account the time spent on them, you'll always see disparity. Also, in Amazon visibility and storytelling are 2 extremely important factors. This might depend from your sector and the team, but in general you should not be shy. Because even if you do the greatest job ever and all your stakeholders are happy about it, if you don't show off with your managers, they will never really care. And, on the contrary, if you just do your regular job, noting special, but you call it out as success story every single time telling nice stories and giving random numbers, this will give you a lot of visibility and make you get promoted way way quicker then everyone else who might actually be more worthy.
