I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (Melbourne) in Aug 2016
Interview
Written submission, two phone interviews and a face-to-face interview with 4 different staff members. All points in the process were positive, until the final face-to-face with one of the management team who was completely disinterested in interviewing me, to the point of being really rude.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
Spoke with a recruiter at the company, then my prospective manager. The meetings were conversational but also well focused, they felt casual but let me showcase what I knew. I came back for onsites a week or two later and met with a broader spectrum of the team. Everyone was very friendly and asked good questions. I felt welcome and informed throughout the process.

Question 1
What is your approach to having difficult conversations with people that you manage?
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Slack (Toronto, ON) in Feb 2017
Interview
Apply online, if they like you they send you an online assessment. It's a pretty straightforward, they want to see how well you communicate with clients via e-mail. Afterwards, they e-mail you and set up a phone interview (FYI: they're calling from the Vancouver office so scheduling interview time is in PST).
Phone interview was alright, the interviewer asked me basic behavioural questions but I knew halfway through I wasn't doing a good job because the interviewer was slowly losing interest in what I was saying and kept replying in monotone 'uh huh' and 'okay'. It felt as if I was boring her which killed my confidence level.
A week later the initial phone call, I received an e-mail explaining that I am not the best fit for the role. But if I did pass the first phone call, it would have been another phone interview, then if successful, 1-on-1 in-person interview.
