I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Slack (Dublino, Dublino) in Mar 2017
Interview
It was a tough process. I had 6 steps in total including phone screenings. However, my recruiter guided me really well through the whole process. The first steps are done over the phone, you then move to a skills test and 3 onsite interviews. Preparation is key, have your research done on Slack and be ready to be able to give a great overview of your work history.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Slack (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2017
Interview
Interview involved take home exercise to write QA test plan before actual phone interview was set up. I had never used the product so I had to download and understand it first before I could do the exercise. There was one onsite and one zoom interview after the phone screen.

Interview
Recruiter reached out to me, she seemed nice but not entirely professional. Was late for a phone screen, the questions she asked it was apparent she had no idea what an acceptable answer was, etc. I found it hard to even ask/understand what the position entailed exactly because the recruiter had so little knowledge about the industry.
For the phone screen with the hiring manager it was apparent within a few minutes she wasn't interested, even asking me to hold for a few minutes while she went and did something off the phone. I figured out pretty quickly this was a position I didn't have the exact experience they were looking for, so I'm not sure why I was even pushed into the interview by the recruiter.
The hiring manager was completely disinterested in any of my responses and it was obvious before the conversation even ended that I wouldn't be moving further along in the process. I was completely unsurprised to not even receive an email from the recruiter afterwards letting me know either way. Overall an odd and fairly unprofessional experience. Again, I was reached out to initially for the position and the entire experience left me with a bad impression of Slack in general.
