Interview
I arrived at the location and was given a clipboard with an application to complete. As I sat down to fill out the app, I heard the girl who'd contacted me for an interview (I later found out that she's one of the assistant managers) mutter, "She's still filling out the application?" The atmosphere didn't vibe with me, and I always trust intuition. It reminded me of a bunch of high school cliques and such--definitely NOT something that should be in the workplace.
Went into the office for the interview, and the assistant manager and the owner shared inside jokes the entire time. Horrible.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Massage Envy (Sparks, NV) in Apr 2010
Interview
I was interviewed by the owner of the franchise and it was more of a conversation than a real interview. When I was interviewing people though, it was more of a structured question interview. They have you come in and sit int he lobby for 15 minutes and watch what the front desk does. For therapists, it's usually two hours of massage, back to back. They're looking for flow and deep tissue ability. For front desk, they're looking that your personality fits and you're not going to cause drama. For us for the front desk, we were looking for flawless memorization of the sales script and bubbly personality.
