I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at GSK in Jun 2008
Interview
Behavioral Interviews - So called high performance behaviors. You will answer multiple questions such as "Tell us about a time when X was bad and you did Y to change it - what did you do and what was the result"
You will know if you got the job before they start asking questions. You will know if they are soft-pitching you. I've interviewed for multiple internal jobs and before the interview they're either your best buddy or they don't know you. Usually you're interviewing just to prove you're not an idiot.
Beware - if you are liked, there is a tendency to oversell the job - tell you that you will be the "Global Strategic Intergalactic Associate Director of International Business" and so on. Ask GSK questions, specific questions about the job. Or you may be frustrated.
