I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Sep 2009
Interview
Essentially they are scenario-based interviews whereby they set-up a scenario and ask specific questions within the scenario. However, be forewarned most all questions are Kobayashi Marus. For example, they place constraints on each scenario which makes it impossible to reach a correct answer.

Question 1
The manager of component 'A' says his functionality is more important than that of component 'B.' The manager of component 'B' says his is more important than that of component 'A.' You can only implement one A or B, but not both - which do you choose to implement.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Slough, Berkshire, South East England, England) in Apr 2009
Interview
I was initially approached by a recruiter who found my profile on LinkedIn. This was followed by 2 phone interviews with the line manager and a manager from another team. The interviews contained questions about fit/experience based as well as pricing questions - how would you increase sales without reducing margins, for example.
The final interview was in the Amazon offices. It included an hour long excel test using data to set up merchandising for the product line. There was also a behavioral interview from HR.
The biggest turnoff was the Amazon offices in Slough. I would not recommend the commute or the town to anyone. I've never seen another company choose choose such a shabby office in a commuter park. It was definitely not for me.
