Pros

The people (lifeguards, PT's, member care etc.) were generally quite nice and fun to work with. Management are usually quite approachable. Free gym membership is a bonus, and lifeguard training is paid. Signed contract, meaning you've got job security and certain benefits.

Cons

The gym I was working at were trying to cut down on wage expenditure, which meant that lifeguards were delegated member care responsibilities (i.e. cleaning gym floor, mopping/hoovering the entire facility etc.). Although I didn't particularly mind it our task list for what we had to do while being off-chair was typically unorganized and lacked clear structure. That being said, attempts were made to change things. Pay is not great and basically not worth it if you're a full-time worker. Understaffed (mostly because the pay is not good), meaning that management would constantly attempt to pressure lifeguards into taking more hours than what is stated in the contract
