Pros

International experience, multi-cultural environment, creative work-force, this was a great start into my career in development; lots of training opportunities. great networking

Cons

recruitment policies sometimes driven by national interests; permanent posts are rare, career advancement uncertain; lots of postings in difficult countries.

Pros

Can be a wonderful place to work, it depends on supervisors, co-worker and whether a re-organization is going on. During my time there I l saw everything from great to horrible. It's a huge organization and your experience really will depend on what location, under whom you work and the current financial environment. Great package while you're there.

Cons

Can be a stressful and not so great place depending on supervisors and not the least whether a re-organization is ongoing. As in many places, re-organizations and cuts don't always target the right places/positions.

Pros

flexible workplace, good colleagues, you are given a lot of latitude to make things happen if you are willing to work within a heavy bureaucracy

Cons

management skills are not prized or cultivated, staff are expendable, heavy processes
