Pros

Great customer interaction Great colleagues Felt trusted most of the time 10% reduction on shopping was a nice surprise. Front line management will try to accommodate you to the best of their ability even with their hands tied by senior team. Enjoyable environment to work in, customers make it worth it!

Cons

The times I did not feel trusted it was hell, this mistrust was no fault of mine! It was due to front line managers and senior staff butting heads power struggles ensue. Too many graduate senior staff threw into positions they have no idea how to deal with, zero life or work experience recipe for disaster. Condescension and belittling of staff due to the inability of the senior team to realise the value of staff members.

Pros

Cheap food available through the colleague shop

Cons

Managers are poorly trained and resort to bullying the delivery drivers. The delivery loads are often very large and you may have to travel from Lewes to Guildford then back to Haywards Heath and still deliver to 20 homes in three or four hours regardless of traffic! Plus Tesco expect you to spend time with the customer to make sure they are happy. If you go sick you will be put on report regardless of your doctor's orders! The report stays on your file. The vehicles are old and dangerous and often break down because they are not serviced, there's no time as they are out everyday. The senior union reps are of little help as they appear to be more concerned with their own nest building than looking after the workers.

Pros

If you’re from the small town of Newtown you will fit in perfectly. Beware if you are a minority as you may be left emotionally scarred.

Cons

From a city in England came to work in Tesco's in Newtown which is a small town in wales. Since working there I’ve heard things that left me in dismay. racist comments about lorry drivers (he can't reverse the lorry because he's polish), Islamophobic (haven’t seen you in ages did you go and join ISIS, did you?) anti-Semitic (look there's the Jew). These are some of the few. Terrible I know. Reported an incident to the manager where a former college was racist towards me. The employee left the company without working his notice. So apparently, it’s out of Tesco’s hand and they can’t do anything about it. So, I was left racially abused but no option but to accept it. (maybe referring it to the police might have helped. A manager (who is very unprofessional) said that They spoke to the employee but not about that (there argument for that was that they can't talk about something that has happened whilst the person who was racist is shopping at Tesco because that’s business and it wouldn't be right if he's coming in as a customer . This was said to me on one of the meetings to discuss the racial abuse allegation.
