Pros

What is work life balance if there is no work to do?

Cons

I work as a Senior Technical Architect in Target India. What that means is that you are basically a Sr. Tech lead. So their career ladders in technical streams are 1) Sr. Tech Arch Consultants 2) Tech Arch Consultants 3) Sr. Tech Arch' 4) Tech Arch 5) Associate tech arch 6) Tech Lead / Sr software engineer So positions 3 and 4 are jobs that are lowest rung in senior tech ladders, but in end of day it is about politics and having to please people in minneapolis who dont value positions fom 3 downwards. So most of the time the Managers / Delivery managers will say to onsite that we dont have technical expertise and do whatever minneapolis counterparts say. My point to management is , you might not be technical but there are still good technical people who are subjugated to politics like this and our voice is not heard. This is a strictly heirarchial company, so if ou question too much, you are branded a bad team player !!!! shocking isnt it. Please stay away from here, dont come here because you dont have any leeway and you cannot give any design proposal, because everything will need blessing from minneapolis. Learning and development is limited and almost zero now in some divisions because vendors do the work and we dont have authority to even do a code review on vendor code. So you can imagine

Pros

Great pay, great benefits. Many dedicated, good people work there...

Cons

You are worked like a dog. You may start out at $50,000, and your bonus may be around $3,000... But you typically average about $12.00 - $15.00 per hour given the amount of hours you work. Overnight logistics is perhaps the worst position you can have. It is very difficult to terminate low performers. Favoritism runs rampant. ETL's and team members are often friends outside of work - there is no leadership separation. Depending on the area, you may have some pretty bottom-of-the-barrel people working for you/with you. In high risk areas, a lot of gang-bangers are employed. If you don't mind baby-sitting 35 year old "men" who live with mom, this is not the place for you. Management is detached at STL level. High levels of passive aggressiveness... You won't know how well/poor you are doing until the end of the year. I thought I was doing horrible, only heard of my mistakes, and supervisors gossip about you behind your back, yet, scored very high on annual performance review -- Which led me to leave the company. Communication is sub-par.

Pros

Peers and supervisors help develop your leadership abilities. A great place to seek employment if you are just starting out or just starting over. Previous warehousing experience is not necessary, if you have the capacity to lead and are capable of giving and receiving feedback, you can do well.

Cons

There is a glass ceiling for promotion to senior group leader. About every one to two years a senior group leader moves on, and 32 group leaders are jockeying for that one position. Also the senior team tends to drag their feet when someone shows interest outside of the distribution center.
