Pros

These days, there really are none. Was great when I first started 10 years ago, and it has gone downhill with time.

Cons

Does not support internal promotions. Would rather look at external candidates vs. seasoned team members could do the job. Treats non-exempt employees at corporate HQ like 16 yr. old cashiers, even in highly-visible & important positions. Going above & beyond your position duties shows no rewards.

Pros

Target is a company based around giving and providing feedback. While many can not accept and grow off the feedback provided, this really helped me grow to become a strong leader. I have become a better person and a better leader because of Target.

Cons

Work life balance can be rough if you have a family or significant other. Even if you are a manager, at the end of the day, it is retail. You work retail hours and deal with all the cons of retail. Also, learn to completely block yourself off to the world during 4th quarter. While Target market themselves to promote and show you all of these paths to success and higher paying salaries, it never really seems to come and there is always another bridge you must cross before reaching that goal. "Expect more, pay less" - Target's motto and a good reflection of how they treat the store team members.
