Pros

Once you show that you are a reliable worker they will grant you hours in other departments. I had some of the best front end leaders.

Cons

Most days were good but management really pushed the RedCard, there was a weekly goal and i absolutely hated it. They were more concerned with selling store cards than having their cashiers be decent human beings. I'd like to say I went above and beyond my cashier duties for guests but you were never recognized for it unless you contributed to the RedCard goal. This somewhat makes sense but being a 17 year old with my first job this really sucked and made me not want to go to work. I ended up quitting after 2.5 years because there was just so much pressure to sell a RedCard. Sorry not everyone is built for marketing. it made me super uncomfortable to keep asking guests about something that was advertised all over the store- if they want one, great, they want one, but i'm not going to keep asking, especially when the guest behind the current guest hears my sales pitch and shuts me down bc he knows i'm going to ask him about signing up for a RC and he CLEARLY doesn't want one. When i accepted the job, selling a RC was not really prioritized/emphasized as one of the main job functions. I tried my best but in the end, management said they would start cutting jobs so I left by choice.

Pros

Overall it was fine .

Cons

One thing I want to say something about my team . I was working in GOM . There's a lot of politics in the team .One of female leads continuously used to put down some people in front of others and had personal relationships with the higher ups .

Pros

Decent salary for a new college grad(60k)

Cons

60+ hour work weeks (usually in the 70s) Awful work/life balance Retail Management isn't a marketable skillset (you could only work for all the retail stores - Walmart, Kmart, etc, which is the same as Target) and no other job industry cares about your management experience. It doesn't translate. Career trajectory is awful. Even the head store manager is still working 60+ hours/week and zero work/life balance despite being with the company 7+ years.
