Pros

Working with the partners can be amazing in the right stores. There's always lots of energy and the perks of working for the company are endless. Flexible hours, and full time hours (40 hrs) are guaranteed to assistant and store managers.

Cons

New hires can be out of desperation when short staffed, leading to poor customer service and frusteration within stores. The customers can be cruel sometimes and there is nothing that can really be done about it. Demands are high. Moving up in the company is easily achieved, but comes with sometimes restricted responsibilities and it can sometimes be difficult to uphold simple standards as many partners have a "my way or the highway" attitude. Outside hires are usually never work well either within managerial positions within stores especially.

Pros

Very easy to move up within the retail store environment. Nice little perks like free coffee. Encourages diversity and community involvement. Great training program

Cons

Schedule is difficult to work with, i.e. early mornings, late nights, and weekends. Sometimes too fast paced when employees call in sick. Customers can be unpleasant to deal with, but I guess any retail environment is like that.

Pros

Starbucks offers great healthcare benefits for partners working a minimum of only 20 hours a week. It's a great place to learn customer service skills and build a great foundation that will help you in every job after.

Cons

It depends on who the SM and DM is, but work-life balance as an ASM sucks. I currently have no SM and am expected to get everything done in my 40 hour work week, but not get paid the salary a SM would. Extreme pressure from DM to meet sales, labor, and food waste goals. I know each DM is different, but mine is terrible at coaching and offers no help, just expects results.
