Pros

+ Company looks great on your CV + Job will force you to learn quickly and think on your feet + Huge challenge ...... if you can call it that!

Cons

- Many important Finance functions have been off-shored which limits control - Finance is not embedded with business so people have poor visibility of actuals. - Massive turnover rate of finance personnel in Philippines, India and Poland so little knowledge there is, is retained. - Multiple finance systems across multiple companies within Shell create inherent inefficiencies and complexities when accounting and trading, - Finance staff within the America's and Europe have the type of skills and experience needed to understand or use the finance systems effectively.

Pros

Good Pay and Good Benefits

Cons

You really need to know someone to have future opportunities. Those that choose to be in the bosses inbox everyday seem to succeed better than those that stay quiet and do their job.

Downsizing in dribs and drabs hurting morale

Pros

Shell remains at the forefront if you want to take company sponsored courses, using technical experts and consultants who know their stuff. It's a large company that does many things and if you can there are many areas to experience O&G

Cons

As the company sells assets to pay for the BG integration, morale across the office has been hit hard. Politics and games are now standard - if you are not a senior management pet or best friend, you are not going anywhere. Experienced colleagues have left the building and decisions are sometimes made by people who have less than 5 years experience; which is quite scary in this game. Outlook is very poor as company aims to hit top quartile production and costs
