Pros

Looks great on your resume; You get many opportunities to learn from other team members on various engagements; Constant training sessions to keep up with new audit standards; PwC pays for CPA study materials; Occasional traveling also a plus; Late night dinners on the company as well as partial phone bill repayment, not a bad deal.

Cons

During audit season (Jan - May) don't expect to have a life and let your friends know that you won't be around until springtime. The hours get pretty awful and I personally don't think it's worth being there if you want to have a normal life. Also, the annual employee review and assessment that goes on is a joke...basically if you are nice to your seniors they will give you good ratings. I worked my butt off and believe I'm pretty intelligent but basically did not receive such great ratings that I deserved after my second year which was basically the straw that broke the camels back...I had no choice but to leave considering the terrible hours, raise and bonus.

Pros

- Promotion of work life balance - Remote working arrangements are possible. On days where you can work from home, you are more than welcome to do so - Co-workers are excellent and truly fun to be around - Very smart coworkers who have had diverse experiences that you can learn from - Direct interaction with junior or senior partners. You can literally stroll in their office (knock first) and have a conversation with them and they are very receptive to coach you - Senior leadership (in the Advisory Practice) is very receptive to feedback from staff members - Formal coaching program

Cons

- The consulting mindset seems to encourage talking "fluff" and not delivering as much substance as I'd like to see - Career development at lower levels though talked about is hard to see as much time is spent updating spreadsheets & presentation - Too much emphasis is placed on "check the box" items as opposed to looking at accomplishments within a broader context - Not enough focus on technical development at lower levels.

Pros

-Great access resources and industry insights -Fast track for learning and developing essential technical accounting and mangerial skills -Fast track for building value in case you'd like to leave for industry -Great training (on the job and formal offerings) -Great vacation policy -Flexibility depending on your client

Cons

-Fast track career in public accounting demands more working hours. However, starting your career with 5-7 years in public accounting builds much more value than starting with 5-7 years in industry. -Worklife balance is not always practical and it greatly depends on your clients.
