Pros
Seasonal employment throughout the year Easy Money
Cons
I am referring to the relationship between Walmart.com and Manpower Staffing which handles certain staffing requirements for the Walmart.com call-center in Hattiesburg. This is by far one of the most incompetent settings I've worked in. With this economy, anyone will take any job they can and Manpower/Walmart.com is well-aware of this. A staffing agency makes money when their clients (businesses) meet their staffing needs with employees provided by the agency. So by its very nature, the more employees you rotate out of a client's office space (hiring/firing) the more money you make. This of course takes away all concern or regard for the livelihood and well-being of the employees. And Manpower/Walmart.com is a perfect example of this. THEY WILL FIRE YOU FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING Walmart.com recently adopted a "paperless" policy, meaning you cannot have any sort of writing utensil on you while you are working. If you are "caught" with one, you will be instantly terminated. Same goes for cellular phones and other personal devices. The reason behind this is to protect confidential materials but there are plenty of companies out there that show trust to their employees by having a more laid back policy. The quality of training is particularly poor in that you are not adequately prepared by the time you go live on the floor, and when you make a mistake the management feels you are to blame. You are only allowed so many "criticals" before you are "coached" or terminated.
