Not a bad part-time job.

Pros

The pay was better than regular retail jobs. The job itselft was more interesting too. The hours were flexible and the job was fairly stress free.

Cons

There was very little opportunity for advancement. However, this is often the problem with retail jobs. I wished that the store managers were more professional and educated. The management turnover was high and that was often frustrating to the associates on the floor.

The team is young and energetic.

Cons

All stores seem to have a problem with over-hiring lab techs. They hire all of these people based on one or two busy times a year and then cannot afford to run with the additional staff the rest of the year.

Decent benefits, flexible scheduling, complimentary eye exams and eyeglasses annually for employees.

Cons

Disconnect between upper management and store associate, outdated and flawed business model, poor pay/commission for store associates, instead of rewarding innovation and "out-of-the-box thinking" they penalize you for it (violates their brand culture), hiring/promoting of associates with no optical experience, instead of focusing on what's right for their patients and their needs they solely focus on making money, it does not foster a rewarding work environment.
