Pros

You do get good training in the optical world... Most people on the store level have fantastic work ethic and try to be the best they can be. Most struggle alot and care about trying to fulfill corporate expectations. They are very knowledgeable about product. You will meet people whose work ethic you will admire....but....

Cons

Cutting hours is my main qualm..how can you plan a budget for your family this way, and then they expect you to work like a mad dog to fulfill 2000$ sales goals. Overall I feel taken advantage of, its not a give and take. Its a take and take. The pay is lousy for what it takes out of you mentally, coupled with the knowledge that other jobs would pay more for you to do less. By one year , I am totally burnt out and resentful. And I was a good employee who hit my daily sales goals and was courteous and profesional.

Pros

Most Lenscrafters stores are open retail hours, providing a flexible range of shifts. It's a retail employer that allows you to feel a little more prestigious when compared to other retail/mall brands.

Cons

You start off enjoying what you do while learning how it works. Eventually you realize that the company lacks consistency, that the emphasis is put solely on that of bottom line profit, and that you are expendable. The product is constantly changing, and the prices consistently grow higher. You're groomed to take advantage of your client base in ways that would make good people feel uncomfortable. Furthermore, the way that goals are set make it impossible to achieve results consistently. The incentives programs change more than anything; you're required to make a monthly goal in order to receive a less than substantial incentive. The problem is in setting goals. Everytime you're able to achieve results, instead of being rewarded, you're punished by the following months unobtainable goals. You're expected to create more out of less- and you're forced to scare away your client base. You have no voice at Lenscrafters, and you will eventually feel like you've been drained of your energy, your happiness, and your life. I can't afford to purchase glasses for my family from my own employer. My Mother has a better EyeMed vision plan through her employer than I do. My employer owns EyeMed.
