Pros

I really enjoy the team I work with. There is a lot of joy, encouragement and support. I much prefer optical sales than clothing retail as you get to feel good about the products, focus on customer needs and build connections. In general, the hours are great for part time as they try to stay close to 25 hours a week. Good benefits that even seem to include massage and therapy but it isn't totally clear when such benefits begin.

Cons

At the end of the day, this is still retail. There are sales goals, and other KPIs. You're expected to increase/promote your selling of particular products such as multiple pairs and transition lenses. However, I wouldn't call this upselling as it is not the same as trying to push a person to buy more clothing. Rather it is the promotion of a higher end product. For example, when selling progressive lenses each design has its own benefits. However, lenscrafters prices are higher than other retailers so that can be a difficult pill to swallow. Also, they want you to sell their 1 year protection plan. Which, while I fully support, there is a limit to your ability to convince them. Some individuals do not like that it is 1 year and others do not have the funds. Some corporate members will push agendas and that is expected. For example, if sales are low then stores might be forced to cut hours. It is a tough but common part of working in sales.
