Pros

I'd love to say something great here, but I don't think I can. There isn't much to boast about. It's a job. Nothing more, nothing less.

Cons

This place is huge! Good luck getting anything done at anything but a snail's pace. In my case, I had a negative FOCAL (year end review) message that was delivered not in December, when it might have been helpful, but in April. It took four months for management to tell me I wasn't doing my job properly. Working with the global nature of the company can also be a challenge. A call to our sites in Israel or Malaysia is certain to occur when you would rather be sleeping or eating dinner. I find it to be very frustrating to know that my work just doesn't matter.

Pros

Intel hires the best and the brightest. You work with some of the greatest minds in the industry. Intel always pushes the envelope. The work is cutting edge. It's always difficult but rewarding technical problem solving. It's a fantastic environment for techincal challenges. There is a lot of teamwork and information sharing. You always learn something new and interesting. Intel is a huge company and you have great opportunity to try new roles in different areas. It's hard to get bored with your job.

Cons

You work a lot of hours. There is continual pressure to produce more results, take on increased level of responsibility. As a technical female, I find the coporate culture to be very male oriented. That being said, I am never disrespected for my gender.

Pros

Work is interesting and challenging. Compensation and benefits are relatively good.

Cons

Low level management is not adequately supervised or scrutinized when problems and conflicts occur. Senior management have high ideals but do not require the same of lower management who work directly with the majority of the work force. Second level managers and above have pretty much a free hand at how they run their organizations and are not required to follow Intel policy or culture as long as the groups goals are being met. Scrutiny only occurs if some big problem arises that could affect the groups short term goals. A single contributors complaint of policy violations will get no ones attention and can lead to being targeted by the low level management for termination. The HR open door process for terminated employees is a joke and is only there to support the management and ensure the terminated employee stays terminated.
