Pros

Global recognition and diverse work projects. It is a great place to start your work experience. They have a nice hold of a number of clients worldwide. The work environment is good if you are OK with the on site and offshore model. Coworkers are very helpful and there is a tremendous upside in terms of learning on the job. Most of us are allowed to learn numerous technologies and access is given to attain the knowledge. The salary compensation is good. The benefits package is also on the positive side. There are a number of options given in terms of Employment Assistant Program that i have used (legal and counseling) that are free to all employees.

Cons

Senior leadership lacking. Project development not ideal. Due to the offshore model, there is always a delay in terms of approvals towards projects or assignment of individuals. I had a lot of issues with my own placements for projects since i am a lateral hire and being on bench was a problem. Due to their competitive and low margins while taking projects, they do not allow for compensation for employees in terms of rentals or hotels and food. The employee is expected to pay for all these on their own unless you are in the consulting or SI group. This causes a lack of morale for folks who travel all over the country for projects and are constantly paying for stuff that other companies cover.

Pros

Clear policy all documented and easy to find. The internal systems to manage the operation is also great. You will have information that you need to perform your job. Excellent knowledge management and highly rated in industry.

Cons

Work-life balance is deffinitely an issue with Infosys if you have hunger for growth. Getting right assignment and learning oppertunity is also an issue with Infosys as they do not get great work as compare to other big brands like IBM, Accenture. Being a India based employer stability on the personal front is an issue as the company will not keep you on bench for more than a week in countries where the salary is more than Indian salary.

Pros

Process driven company. Leader in the IT consulting and maintenance. Good opportunities to exhibit your skills especially if you are a fresher. Clear focus on productivity, quality and bottomline profit. As any Indian company, politics rules! But very ethical company - no fraud, no overbilling, no unfair trade practices etc. Transparent and open to the employees.

Cons

Very cost conscious in the operations. Still viewed only as a maintenance outsourcing company. Need focus to remove this image and put more effort in becoming a real consulting company. Resource skillset is a cause of concern. About 80% of the company are freshers and campus recruits or internally grown. In IT Consulting the key is highly skilled people which you rarely find in the company. These are the people who are going to implement the IT Solutions. Efforts to recruit and retain talented consulting resources are surely lacking.
