Pros

It’s been refreshing to work among strong and confident women who are encouraging. This industry can be very competitive. My co-workers at previous establishments were very snarky and malicious. I have learned that those who complain are mostly feeling threatened and insecure in their own abilities. My current position at Ideal Image has been challenging. It takes about 3 months to ramp up and learn how to navigate through all of the IT that is required. It takes a lot independent study and practice. You must be an ambitious self starter. There is no hand holding. But if you have a strong work ethic, the support from management and other consultants is great. The negative reviews are from those that simply do not have what it takes to succeed in the position. You must have industry knowledge about all treatments and services. Know the contraindications for each and how to sequence treatment plans. Be articulate while providing strong consultations while simultaneously navigating through multiple software systems/platforms to build quotes, offer financing options, process payments and schedule appointments. It’s a lot! It’s not for everybody. I recognized very early that it would be a “survival of the fittest” journey. Now that I am into my 6th month, I’m grateful for the opportunity to work from home, for the new skills that I have acquired, and for all the great friendships and connections I’ve made.

Cons

Salesforce has a lot of hiccups that slow me down sometimes.

Pros

Work from home. Not micromanaged. Decent benefits. No cold calling.

Cons

Draw system base salary - meaning you do not earn commissions until you have paid back your monthly salary. Because you work on a draw system, anytime you take off work, the amount you have to sell to pay back draw goes up. Work out of queue - too many sales people not enough patients calling in. Wait times are lengthy at times to get a consultation. There was a time in which it was possible for new hires to make good money right out of the gate, but unfortunately upper management has implemented a tier system in which if you are in within 120 days of start date, you may not take a consult until all other tenured consultants have been transferred a call. Meaning, you will sit in your home office for hours (sometimes up to 6 hours) without being transferred a call. No where in the employee handbook does it state that management can add shifts to your schedule. We already work terrible hours (as early as 6am and as late as 10pm), and weekends, but at end of month, management will add shifts to your schedule that are mandatory for you to work with very little heads up. Teams are constantly being re-arranged. I had 3 different managers within 3 month period. Management will not agree with this, but they turn a blonde eye to it - TOP consultants are being fed leads from call center instead of waiting in the queue like everyone else. Call center does not always prep patient for consult. Meaning they do not have them prepared to get on zoom, nor do they fully qualify the patient for intended treatment half the time, causing you to waist that consult you sat in line for, and hurting your conversion %. Scheduling wait times to get patients in is ridiculous. They implemented a 60 Day guarantee that guarantees a patient to be scheduled within 60 days or money back, and it’s hardly ever possible for a patient to be treated in that time frame, not do the clinics seem to care about the patient getting in within reasonable amount of time. Clinics have their own sales targets, and will refund patient services and resell to get credit if you do not watch your sales like a hawk. Constant refunds. In my training class, we had many high level sales professionals, most from the aesthetic industry coming to work for Ideal Image with the expectation they can/will make well into the six figures working from home. This is not feasible right out of the gate if at all with the changes happening. And the base “salary” is not feasible to live on. When you have reps coming in accustomed to making great money, and you give them a starting base that is 25% or less of what they are used to making, it’s not something to survive on. High turnover.

DONT DO IT

Pros

Commission is fair, if you get lucky you get free treatments, a lot of people who work there are nice

Cons

Terrible hours, no work life balance, hard to get your free treatments, there are too many people who feel they have been wronged by ideal to count and management is often unresponsive so every single day you get yelled at by customers for things that aren’t your fault. Management lies. They always tell you why you want to hear and then do something else. Dcc’s are barely trained and then thrown to the dogs.. this also causes many mistakes in the system so everything is always a mess. Super high turnover so that makes everything more of a mess. The company refuses to go digital so you’re dealing with paper charts where things get lost or nurses forget to write things down bc they are piled with appointments and no time to chart in between guests. EVERYONE who works there feels over worked, underpaid, and very unhappy which causes the atmosphere to be horrible. Just don’t do it.
