Pros

Very flexible in terms of work time, home office and so on. Its quite easy to maintain work life balance and be with your family at IBM. You even get pushed by the company to do so. Teamwork is great and everyone is very professional to get the job done.

Cons

Extremely process driven and some of the implemented processes really dont make any sense. Most of the time the processes are necessary and even a very good thing, but some of them are just not usable in the real world out there. Focusing the business on shareholder value as main issue is not very aplicable either.

Pros

No hassles. Not much pressure. Good place to relax. Everything is process oriented. So one doesnt have to worry about everything because every small work takes ages to complete. Work and pressure are only for those who want to take them and come forward. In all IBM is a good place to be before retirement.

Cons

Very slow growth. Compensation will be shared with others. Top talent will not be able to get the top benefits. ISL looks like the only business unit that has some sense of ability and rewards the talented employees. Young talent will not be able to stay put in the slow paced environment of IBM.

Pros

- IBM allows flexible working hours which is far more interesting compared to a steady 9 to 5 working schedule. - It is a global company which means opportunities can present itself anywhere in the world. - People in IBM, management or non-management are generally laid-back and helpful. - The pay and benefits in IBM are quite competitive. - The wide range of business units means you have the opportunities to explore different job fields and industries.

Cons

- Large companies means slower and sometimes lack of communication. - Due to the matrix structure, an employee may have several managers to report to, which means it's hard to build a close relationship with your manager(s), especially when many of them work remotely. - Although there are many opportunities, it may take you a long time to get to the position you want due to standards and structures that must be followed in order to get promoted.
