Pros

Lots of freedom to explore and publish research Very collaborative Good work/life balance The technology (in AI) is underrated relative to the competition, most companies have essentially the same stuff these days but IBM just doesn't have the reputation or the data of a Google or Amazon

Cons

A lot of people working on the same things Behind the competition in a lot of areas due to IBM's business model (can't learn from other clients' data, nothing is consumer facing) Compensation and benefits is below average for the labor market. This used to be ok because IBMers like the work/life balance and job security, but job security is no longer any better than the competitors
