Pros

H&M offers a diverse and open company atmosphere. It is fast paced, challenging and will hone sales, delegating and interpersonal skills. H&M offers domestic partnership, free life insurance, health, medical, dental and special discounts. Constant feedback and straightforward values are ones that are utilized on a daily basis. Internal issues that may arise are rectified ccordingly. A Human Resource Manager is at some locations, creating a space for comfort, confidentiality. Employees should always be aware of their rights, which is something they stress. Opportunities for advancement is through the Internal Promotions Process ; associates interested train for two weeks.

Cons

H&M requires and expects a lot from their associates. You may find yourself doing other people’s jobs, and sometimes communication between associates and management is poor. Furthermore, due to the garments having low price points, it opens up the doors to citizens from every social status, which makes an interesting mix of clientele in one setting. Another downside is that there is an unofficial title for an associate called, Department Responsible. The position is really an assistant manager position, but associates perform a lot of managerial functions, but are paid like regular sales associate. Also, computers are are a little outdated.

Pros

All employees are equal and have a voice. No matter if you are a part-time employee or a manager, everyone has their say. Also, when a position opens, all employees can apply for it, wether it be for a visual position, dept manager or a job at the corporate office. The employees are trained by other employees so both sides benefit from it. If you need some time off, just ask! Also, ANY employee can participate in new store openings, given them a chance to travel. If a part-time employee has a chance to participate in a new store opening and works with brand new employees at that store, he will be able to train this employee with what he already knows, adding training to his curriculum.

Cons

Hours can be cut if the store doesn't make budget, so all employees that are hourly don't have garanteed hours!
