Pros

Great & storied brand. New head of creative is taking it in a...unique direction. Time will tell how his unique design direction will translate into year-over-year long term sales growth. With a few exceptions, the majority of associates are dedicated and truly good, caring people who want to work as a collaborative team. People want to help you succeed. I'd say the people are the best part of working here. Generous vacation time offered (see below - it's tough to actually use).

Cons

Many, many demands placed on associates. While employer demands are certainly to be expected, it's become exhaustingly excessive to the point where salaried workers routinely work extra long days, on their days off and / or vacation time just to keep up. Work / life balance toughest it's ever been. Most divisions are stretched so thin so as to make it harder for everyone else to do their job. I have seen more people leave in the past year and a half due to the unmanageable workload. Little expression of appreciation whether you work 60 hrs a week or 40 hrs a week. If you are not self-motivated, forget it. Goals set unrealistically high for hopes of a bonus. It's great to strive and aim high, but the goals should be attainable.

Pros

Company-wide discount, benefits, wardrobe is provided to you (gucci mandated uniform for that season made in Bulgaria vs Italy for regular gucci clothes) however gucci shoes provided are made in Italy.

Cons

Unfortunately I worked for Gucci at Saks when they were trying to re-brand themselves by putting Gucci employees to sell there. This created a high-conflict environment as Saks employees are commission-based only. It was not well thought out in this sense. There was a great deal of tension between Saks and Gucci employees.

Pros

Good commision percentage at least for now unless they take it away also

Cons

We used to bonus and have incentives and yearly raises great employee discount and employee website… since we had the old Louis Vuitton vice president Tommaso join we now have no more discounts except on what we dont want to buy the employee website closed for a year and tripled its prices, our bonuses went from 2k-3k a month to 100-200 and only if you get great client reviews. No wonder all the experienced staff is going to competitors and leaving gucci with staff from fast retailers and no luxury experience.
