Pros

Multinational company operating in an interesting field - real life impact. The sheer size of the company allows (if you are lucky) a good level of international exchanges.

Cons

Some parts of the company are not really working together. Opportunities are not the same in all sites. Considering the multinational dimension of the company, this is a big downside: perceived inequalities, especially if fostered by a less-than-adequate local plant management, can result in excessive employees turnover and low motivation. The pharma industry is still quite "shielded" from competition: this is both a plus and a minus, since inefficiencies are allowed to survive.

Pros

My legacy organization was terrific. Good people, great products, and a focus on innovation. Management was supportive and there was solid communication and collaboration across functional areas. Benefits were great (e.g., vacation, shut down week, pre-maternity leave, summer hours...).

Cons

The "New GSK Consumer Healthcare" feels a lot like Reckitt Lite. Transformational changes are taking a toll on employees - the "journey" is never-ending. Lack of clarity around precisely who will be part of the new organization has lead to widespread disengagement, and the overly long selection process has destroyed employee morale. When presented with a challenge to the lack of clear direction it seemed to be regarded as bad attitude or not being aligned with the new vision. Summer hours and work-from-home arrangements have been rescinded; other benefits are being dismantled. Work-life balance is being negatively impacted. New organization is extremely lean and extremely flat - questionable opportunities for growth and development. Mediocre compensation and benefits.
