Pros

Flowserve offers a comprehensive benefits package that makes up for lower salaries and middle of the road medical coverage with a retirement and a pension plan, though we will see how long the pension plan lasts. Since the company is highly compartmentalized, ambitious employees can easily exceed the learning curve and any expectations associated with their position. So, eventually an employee can work their way into a relaxed schedule, provided you meet your deadlines and deliverables without fail.

Cons

The only reason there is not a one star rating is because of the employee retirement options included within the standard benefits package. Outside of that, there is a laundry list of cons. Namely, the highly compartmentalized structure of Flowserve lends itself to workplace complacency. It is easy for employees to slack on their job functions, since someone else will probably pick up the slack. The good employees who make up the difference eventually leave the company because their ambition is dashed due to the lack of acknowledgement. Infact, in most cases managers just expect good employees to do most of the work and are upset when the difference cannot be made up by the over tasked good employees. So, as the few good ones depart a majority pool of slackers reside. It is especially frustrating when said slackers get promotions when they lack the drive, skill set, and x-factor associated with winning orders, maintaining customer relationships, and managing production. Rather than addressing this problem, senior management seemingly prefers to high from outside the company to fill higher roles. This further compounds the complacency within and drives the ambitious ones out of the company. The days of organic growth within Flowserve are long gone.
