Pros

Great benefits, depending on who you report to, great work life balance. You will work with extremely intelligent and experienced people. And you will learn so much about the green industry just through osmosis. They believe in hiring from within, so once you make it in, you can transition easily assuming you show the aptitude fro the work in question. Over-head, meaning, HR and the executive team, are very approachable. HR is frequently doing gestures of appreciation throughout the year. e.g., getting a small bonus 2 weeks before Christmas, (not related to your annual bonus) or getting a $25 gift card that can be used anywhere for a Turkey or Ham, right before Thanksgiving. The effort is definitely there. They even retro date annual merit increases, i.e., if you get your increase in March, you get the difference from January in your next paycheck, Pretty cool! Who does that? 401k match!!!!! Lastly, you get to work in the green industry for a company that works a huge variety of technologies, Hydro, Wind, Geothermal and Solar. We do novel things in our field, by combining technologies. It's truly motivating and inspiring. No matter what you do here, you'll feel like you're contributing to a better world.

Cons

The systems chosen such as an ERP or Signature Management, are terrible. They implement the base of base models and frequently shut the systems down for update, for days (work days) at a time. Once re-activated, seldom are the update useful and more often than not, more issues are created. To make any process improvements, even the smallest and logical of them, it takes forever because the solution proposed needs to approved by the powers that be in Rome Italy. You will get frustrated trying to comprehend why progress takes significantly longer than they should or why things are done with built in obsolescence. You will be optimistic for the first few months convincing yourself that you're different and you can develop solutions and ways of communicating solutions that no one else has thought of, but you'r wrong. We've all tried and now we just accept the unnecessary hassles and delays as quirks.
