Club teams are stretched beyond capabilities, with unreasonable expectations, workload and targets. It’s impossible for Heads of Departments to complete their roles within 40 hours, resulting in poor work life balance. Regularly contacted on days off and expected to work last minute. The processes, IT systems and day to day functions at Virgin Active simply do not work, and when feedback is given you’re not listened to. The senior/regional support team operate with a blame culture, leaving staff fearful for their jobs. 121’s simply focus on what you’re not doing and no recognition for any performance. Virgin active used to be a brilliant place to work, but a recent change in senior leadership team has led to a negative culture change which is full of fear, blame, high pressure and zero recognition for the staff. The values that Virgin Active have are not at all adhered to and the senior leadership simply do not display these values.
