Pros

The work/life balance is fantastic. The trust placed in members of staff to manage their own workload is first rate and the flexible working nature is, in my opinion, superb. I have the autonomy to be able to organise my work around my life, not the other way around. Sure I am expected to produce an output, but my line manager points out to me constantly that my life comes first. Perhaps this is because my commitment to the business is clear and I am very professional in my outlook, but it is refreshing to know that when I need to adjust things and work from home due to outside influences, I have the ability to do this. What I would say is that my job role allows this flexibility and there are roles in the business where on site working is an integral part of that those particular roles. Another benefit that I didn't really realise before I joined was the flexible leave system. In addition to the 25 days holiday, I have access to an additional 12 'flex days' if I can work beyond the 37 hour week. Part of this 37 hour week is a half day on a Friday and I also know some colleagues are on a compressed 4 day week as that works for them. It all adds up to a very flexible system that rewards workers with suitable rest periods, not to mention the opportunity for overtime for applicable grades of staff. Additionally, the business is veteran friendly employer. I am an active member of the Armed Forces Network and this is growing and expanding it's influence around the business. Senior Leadership are very keen to do whatever we can to encourage more veterans into the business and I expect more work to follow in this area in the immediate short term. In summary, Leonardo is a great place to work in my experience. Lots of flexibility and very veteran friendly, with a vision from senior leadership that sees rapid expansion as a prime defence company.

Cons

Some of the facilities on site need to be expanded to match the projected growth of the business. For example, more parking, on site showers etc. A slight negative could be that the business is very busy and focused on production of our products as the demand placed upon is is great. We need more people and fast. As a result some individuals struggle to prioritise their work and can seem overrun with tasks.
