Pros

FT employees get free glasses once a year

Cons

-Hiring process took almost 2 months from a job offer. - Hours were constantly cut, maybe 1 week of my employment I got the number of hours I was promised on hire. - Did not pay me the wage I was offered, my hiring manager sent me a screenshot from her computer system showing my hire was approved by soandso at a certain rate of pay. Because I was never actually shown how to access my paystubs, I found out a few months later that I was being paid almost $2 less than they approved in their own system. - Effectively no HR, when I had an issue I could only find a webform. A coworker got me a phone number, they refused to accept a complaint from me, a supervisor on the phone told me they only accept claims through my manager. -My manager made a claim for me and they just told him to talk to his boss, to update the pay rate. They said changing it now would change it retroactively, which was plain wrong. -They never paid me what I actually negotiated, retroactively OR after I complained and provided evidence. -I was trained in the state next to mine for 2 weeks then never worked there again, but I paid taxes to both states for 2 whole months. Never got the money back for that either. - Turnover for management is really high, regional managers lasted less time than I did. - Throughout my employment I witnessed non-opticians/non-apprentices dispensing and doing adjustments and measurements, AKA practicing opticianry without a license. - Corporate wants you to try to sell as much as possible, but these are necessary medical items and can be very expensive. You are expected to try to upsell whenever possible regardless of the customer's actual budget or need, and you get spoken to if you don't sell enough RayBans or BlueIQ.

Pros

when I first started it was a very employee based company. Great discounts, great benefits. Regional managers were swift to help if we had questions and offer support

Cons

Since last year the environment has changed vastly. They no longer care about the employees and only want results. They have raised prices and insurances dont cover as well as they used to and they expect the managers to just force people to buy. If you dont make your monthly goals youre put on a PIP and the Regionals are constantly threatening you to make them. The work life balance does not exist. There is a group chat with your fellow store managers hosted by the Regional and if its your day off they still expect a response. I know it comes from the top down but the micromanaging has gotten so awful. Down to the minute you must be scheduled correctly. I have been here for 3 years and have never had a positive review even though our store has exceeded its goals. Doesnt matter to them, they expect more and more. They raise goals constantly and the only answer they have for making sure we hit those goals is no one leaves, even though they can get the same product from a competitor at a much lower cost.
