Strikes the right work/life balance - Advisory Associate KPMG Employee Review

Pros

Awesome work life balance can be found at KPMG. With 25 personal paid days off a year plus the eight or so holidays, there is always plenty of time to spend with friends and family. In general, most of the people in the workplace are smart, kind, and interesting, although there are quite a few "corporates" that treat work like a political battleground.

Cons

It's easy to get comfortable with all the perks and hard to get off and leave. It is possible to stagnate. I also feel that some of the skills I develop, "technical" or not might not really apply outside the workplace...so how can I possibly leave one day?

Pros

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Cons

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
