      Ok for first job out of school - Hair Stylist Great Clips Employee Review

      Pros

      There was a decent amount of basic education which was nice as a newly licensed hairstylist. I learned a lot about clipper cuts, something that was mostly not taught in school, and how to be quick.

      Cons

      They expect all haircuts, no matter the cut, style of hair, etc to be completed start to finish in less than 15 minutes. I’m sorry but that is just not enough time for quality customer service. If I did not do this I was written up. I was written up for everything. Everyone was. I was once written up because after working a 9-hour shift I left at the time I was scheduled to leave. How can they do this?! I don’t know, but they write you up for every single little thing.

Our cutting system, and advised haircut times, are based on data we have collected for years which shows the optimal time it should take to complete an average haircut. Every customer deserves a personal, quality experience. More time may be needed with some to ensure that happens...clearly others take less time.       Pros

      Great co-workers, good tips, generally busy, clientele overall friendly, management is super cool and will try to be as flexible as possible with your schedule.

      Cons

      Working evenings and weekends, but that is salon life.

      Pros

      Flexible schedules, 401k, health, & dental benefits, bonuses (based on salon performance, base wage with poetional to hit commission on service & product sales, fun friendly & welcoming environment for employees/customers, continuing education for growth in the industry, professional career growth with Great Clips (depending upon your franchise)

      Cons

      Haircutting exclusive so if you enjoy other services in the industry (chemicals, waxing, updo styling) this is not the place Franchised salons, so salons are ran differently.
