Pros

Leaving University I felt it difficult to see myself in some of these golden roles you hear about some graduates getting. My grades were OK - good enough for these big companies not to dismiss me straight away - but my limited work experience was difficult to justify in the blue-chip environment. During uni I preferred to travel rather than do an internship which probably hurt me career wise. FDM gave me a chance, really. And the opportunity is there to make the most of your chance. If you're willing to work hard and learn the material, and pro active about managing where you want your career to go, FDM can give you that start. You'll learn technologies used in business you may not have had exposure to before, you'll train with some really great people and become good friends, and you'll get the confidence to go on client site and hopefully do some meaningful work.

Cons

Training is intense. FDM doesn't tolerate or accommodate people learning at a different pace. Some fall by the wayside and are asked to leave. Training period is unpaid, and salary over the two years is low (even though I'm not really motivated by money at this stage in my career, it's a measure of our value to that organisation. Plus, would be nice to have a lot of wouldn't it!)
