Pros

deliveroo used to be such a good company to work for. its probably the worst company you could ever work for now.

Cons

Outrageous Expectations: The targets set by management are not just high—they’re downright ridiculous. It’s as if they’re deliberately designed to be unattainable, creating a toxic pressure cooker environment where stress levels are perpetually through the roof. Nonexistent Work-Life Balance: Expect to sacrifice your personal life completely. Long hours and weekend work are not just expected, they're demanded. The concept of work-life balance is a cruel joke here, leading to rampant burnout. This used to be good, but now kiss your weekends goodbye. The office is dull, grey, and everyone wants to off themselves. Abysmal Support: Despite the grueling demands, support from senior management is a farce. Resources are scarce to non-existent, and we’re left to fend for ourselves with no guidance or tools to achieve the impossible targets. They dont care about you at all. Sky-High Turnover: The turnover rate is through the roof, and for good reason. People are fleeing this sinking ship as fast as they can, leaving the rest of us to pick up the slack in an already untenable situation. Look on LinkedIn. People are staying for 3 months before begging to leave. Zero Growth Opportunities: Career progression at Deliveroo? Forget it. Promotions are a myth, and the criteria for advancement are as clear as mud. It feels like a dead end with no hope for the future. You wont ever progress your career at this dead end company, just stagnate it. Toxic Culture: The work environment is toxic beyond belief. The focus is on blame, finger-pointing, and covering one’s back rather than finding solutions. Morale is at rock bottom, and employees are treated as expendable cogs in the machine. Managers are absolutely useless and only care about themselves. Stuck up cows. In summary, my tenure at Deliveroo as a Business Development Manager was a nightmare filled with stress, lack of support, and a toxic culture. If you value your sanity, career growth, and basic human dignity, stay far, far away from this company. Deliveroo needs a complete overhaul of its work culture and management practices to stop bleeding talent and start respecting its employees.

Pros

The company is presented as a young and dynamic environment, at least from an external communication point of view.

Cons

Unfortunately, the internal reality is very different. Career progression mainly favors people who are close to management or who know how to please the right individuals, while meritocracy clearly comes second. Losing valuable employees does not seem to concern upper management at all. Many department heads lack experience and competence, which leads to constant issues, misunderstandings, and organizational problems that directly impact daily work and team morale. The company promotes itself as “young and dynamic,” yet hires employees over 60 whose experience does not appear to be properly assessed or effectively leveraged, creating a strong inconsistency between image and reality. Salaries are not competitive compared to the market. Salary increases and bonuses are very low and demotivating. Benefits are either almost non-existent or purely symbolic.
