Business Outlook
Pros
Ernst and Young is a great place to begin a career, especially if your undergraduate training is in accounting. You quickly gain exposure to a number of companies and industries, and you have the chance to interact in a meaningful way with your clients from day one. This allows you to quickly learn about your clients' businesses and the industries in which they operate.
Cons
The problem with Ernst and Young, as is the problem with most auditing firms, is that responsibilities seem rigid and it's difficult to differentiate your work from others in your peer group. A staff accountant's time becomes a commodity, with little difference who performs the work. Also, compensation is almost entirely disconnected from performance.
