Pros

Recognizes and leverages talent, even if not hired for that task. Was able to advance within the company despite being hired for a part-time, rather menial position. Strong firm values.

Cons

In my experience there were not many cons. Some of the typical bureaucratic annoyances one finds in a large firm.

Pros

While public accounting often gains slack, if you chose to start in public accounting as a career launch, I believe Ernst & Young has the reputation and resources to jump start a career. The hours may be rough and at times things can be frustrating, however, the flexibility and benefits of working in public accounting sometimes out-weight the crazy hours (depending on schedule assigned).

Cons

Long hours. Politics that can occur. Fact that someone can have a "good" schedule, while another employee can be working til 1am. Pay when compared to private at the same level.

Pros

Ernst & Young is a people first culture which fosters flexibility and a strong concern for the development and success of their people.

Cons

Ernst & Young did not provide salary increases last year. The pay grade system is not made available to anyone.
