      Good, but...

      Pros

      Intellectually stimulating work. Most of the people you work with are bright and motivated. Great exposure to Fortune 500 clients and mid to senior level management within those organizations. The firm also provides an effective feedback process.

      Cons

      A very political environment accompanied by a rigid promotion structure. You can be smarter, work harder and be rated higher than your peers and be promoted at the same rate and paid very similar salaries (within 1-2% difference) as those who just show up and go through the motions.

      Deloitte, good for training, bad for working

      Pros

      Deloitte, as with all the other Big 4 Accounting Firms, has great chances for employees to take training and CPE courses. They have nice offices but unless you're in Tax, you won't spend much time there.

      Cons

      Deloitte is a very political company, in order to advance you have to be very chummy with everyone, especially Partners/Senior Managers, they would be your "guardian angels" who would protect you during reviews. Sometimes strong performers are laid off because they didn't establish any solid relationships with Partners/Senior Managers. Furthermore be prepared for busy season! Busy season is long and not always busy. The client is not always ready and you may have to sit on your hands for several weeks. Seniors vary in quality some are just swamped and will not assist anyone, others will help. They recent lay offs were very contentious in that management does not communicate criteria for layoffs, this is related to the first comment above about Deloitte being a very political place to work at.

      Pros

      Very easy to advance with in the company. All you have to do is at least "Meet Expectations" and your promotion is guaranteed.

      Cons

      There are a lot of politics and "unofficial" rules that you are expected to know or catch on rather fast. There is a lot to be said about expectatin to "eat" the hours, not to go home untill your superior decides to go home (that could be past 9-10 pm and he's just browsing the internet and making it look like he's putting in the long hours), impossible to get a good amount of time off and of course do not even get me started on busy season. YOU WILL NOT HAVE A LIFE
