Pros

. Some great individuals in the company . Good tech for some areas of the business . Better than most hybrid working policy

Cons

. Constantly firefighting, with management changing direction sometimes on a daily basis. . Incredibly disappointing compensation reviews, well below inflation and competitors. . Absolutely ridiculous internal mobility policy, no incentive to progress internally as you’re unlikely to receive the compensation for the role for at least a year. . Low morale due to the restructure

Pros

The BDM team was good.

Cons

I was a BDM at Deliveroo for a while. The regional director for the greater london team is absolutely clueless. He has no idea what he is talking about, never has any compassion for anyone, never appreciates anyone, and absolutely no one likes him. I feel bad for the regional managers who have to suffer with him every day. Management claim they don't micro manage you but towards the end of my time there they began implementing north korea style tactics on us. You get the most unrealistic targets ever. You get shouted at for doing your job better than everyone else but miss out on 1 small metric which is impossible to achieve. There is 0 career progression available. Ive seen people deserve promotions and be completely ignored by the company. Nearly every single BDM has left the greater london team and its all because of how the director runs this team into the ground. Nothing the BDMs say gets acknowledged and its a horrible place to work. Do yourself a favour and never join as a BDM in the greater london team. The BDMs and AMs you work with are amazing but everything else is a complete mess.

Pros

- Cool office location - Above average co-workers (in a few select departments)

Cons

- Poor work life balance (weekend work is implicitly expected, 9 - 7/8 PM was the norm during weekdays) - High stress environment with little to no help from senior management - Toxic culture of berating in public meetings, back-stabbing and reluctance to own mistakes (this culture was exemplified from the top down, from C-level to Director roles), micromanagement at all levels with little to no trust between departments/employees - Terrible comp relative to other tech companies (ROO is not a tech company, they are a logistics company operating with minimal margins), comp increases were minimal year on year and company will continue to downsize with fewer opportunities - Little to no benefits, no snacks in the office, no well-being benefits
