      Barclays Capital is a great environment for those who want to work hard and progress their careers

      Pros

      Barclays Capital offers a professional and friendly working environment, good opportunities for career progression and internal mobility. I have worked for them 4 times longer than at any other employer in my career and this is entirely due to the variety of roles I have performed during this time and the opportunities offered to me.

      Cons

      As with most investment banks, the hours can be hard. However, that's pretty much a matter of personal choice. Also, they can be pretty ruthless when it comes to "poor" performance. It's a fairly regular occurrence for the bottom 10 per cent to be cleared out

      Thanks for taking the time to write a review and really great to hear that you have been able to build a strong career with us and take advantage of internal opportunities. I would like to comment that we do have a strong performance culture to ensure we are supporting our colleagues to manage their jobs and careers. We do not have a "clear out" culture however, like all organisations, the colleague and the culture need to be suited to each other and sometimes they need and want different things.

      Pros

      Great company perks and working environment. Lots of opportunities for internal mobility between teams and functions. Good in-house amenities - gym, coffee bars and canteen.

      Cons

      Change is continual and virtually the norm. Work-life balance could be better with long hours and heavy workloads. Travel opportunities are limited / virtually non-existent.
