Pros

You could be fortunate and come across some really sharp, knowledgeable people from time to time.

Cons

Managers seem to care mainly about numbers, not people. Not everyone is treated the same; some staff members are favored, even when they perform poorly. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) is preached but not always practiced. In general, the majority of staff (at least from my experience in Enterprise Support) seems to be highly overworked and stressed a lot of the time.

Pros

If part of a professionally HEALTHY branch of the organization (not my experience but those of my peers): There are ample opportunities for growth and advancement. Leaders and mentors provide direction and advice for career paths. Opportunity to create robust workflow with additional project management and team collaboration Leadership principles are incorporated into daily work/life Mechanisms created to streamline project management and communication. Documentation created to incorporate team feedback, with full visibility into forward thinking goals and roadmaps. Thorough and inclusive review process.

Cons

If part of a professionally UNHEALTHY branch of the organization (my personal experience, upon which my ratings are based): Complete disregard for work/life balance, as leadership only focuses on outward facing customers and the end product. When I addressed a potential solution for improving organization morale, the response I received was "If they want to go, they go. That can't be my problem. I don't have time for this and we'll find somebody else". Lack of transparent communication surrounding projects and milestones. Abrupt changing of direction and priorities, without considering lack of employee resources or time for completion. Leadership's lack of trust in their directs and their teams, causing high levels of micromanagement and 6 plus hours of meetings per day, not allowing for actual work production. Leadership insulting, shaming and berating upper management and their teams in a public forum, including in the presence of senior VPs.
