Pros

Great platform for building your career. Good managers to coach you and teams to support and challenge you. Accenture puts a significant focus on developing people, they have a "university" in St. Charles, IL that is their global training location. I continue to use the Accenture network as a building block in my career. Provides the ability to learn the inner workings of large enterprise clients across various industries and geographies. If you enjoy travel you will rack up tons of frequent flier miles. Career path is well defined, performance is evaluated based on specific standards. All in all a large global firm full of great people.

Cons

There is a significant amount of travel to far away places that is required. Potential to get pigeon holed in a specific technology and spend many years of your career focused on doing the same type of work over and over. For some career progression is slowed due to the size of the firm and the pyramid structure. The organization is extremely large and may not offer the individualized career path provided by small firms.

Pros

Great place to start a career. There are opportunities for quick advancement and the promotion and evaluation system is very fair and thorough.

Cons

The pay is a little on the low-end when compared to other implementation firms, and very low when compared to management consulting. You may also find yourself working on a single implementation project for two years. Employees at the firm are very young (even relative to other firms) and somewhat immature as a result. Work/Life balance may be possible on a case to case basis, but you also need to be willing to sacrifice a lot if you're staffed on an out of town project.

Pros

The people. Most folks who stay at Accenture do so because of the people. Most are intelligent, motivated, and helpful. Working in teams is critical to doing well.

Cons

Different projects will lead to completely different experiences, good and bad. Find the right manager or senior manager, and work with them to get on projects that fit well. Otherwise it can be a long few months/years.
