1. Not Management Consulting as it is being pitched in the market. It is no different from Service Delivery Management. Don't fall prey to the trap. 2. Few good leaders , rest are non competent managers

Beyond the first couple of levels, true meritocracy for advancement is no longer in practice; original concepts of rapid advancement and wide ranges of responsibilities at early career stages is a thing of the past due to the sheer size of the organization and the pressures of minimizing executive management at a publicly traded company; while a relatively good second choice for technologists, behind Silicon Valley firms, wanting a tech job and to be close to business issues, it is no longer a prime choice for consulting types, who would be better served by joining partnerships or public companies with a partnership tradition who have kept truer to that model and concept, rather than pursuing tech / outsourcing giant business models.
