Pros

The pay is decent compared to other retail/grocery jobs around. The health insurance and 401k are also pretty decent- again, compared to other jobs of similar theme.

Cons

There is no real work-life balance despite them preaching it. There is no respect to your life outside of the store. On your days off, you get called & guilt tripped asking to come in. If you need to call off, even if you have pneumonia, you need to find your own coverage and have sick time or it is counted against you. Even with a doctor's note saying you need to rest so you can breath normally, if you do not have sick-time available then they count it against you regarding attendance (I had run out due to having gone to the hospital for pneumonia). I was willing to take another day without pay, but that was not an option. Aside from the difficulties of being sick while being employed here, if certain tasks did not get done (even if it was impossible to do them) then the district managers treat you like you are incapable of working. They lack understanding of the reality of situations and time. If you stay past your shift to finish the tasks they scold you for not having done in the short window of time provided, they also scold you. There are also only 2-4 people on the clock at a time, max. 4 people will be on the clock if you are lucky enough to have the hours for it. Usually 2-4 people total are expected to cashier, stock, take a required 30-minute break, take care of customers, restock, date items, clean, and organize during their shift. In a dream world, this is doable. But in reality, it is hard to make these dreams come true. Therefore, not everything would be completed unless we did not have customers. But if there are no customers, then there are no hours to give for the employees to work. It is a vicious cycle.
