I was told to describe the OSI layer. And I was given the scenario of there being two devices placed at the same place on two different instances, but with both giving different throughputs. I was told to go over the layers and explain what potential problems in every subsequent layer would contribute to the reduction in date throughputs even though most of the specifications were the same for both the devices in terms of hardware.
Take a random sequence of bits and perform source coding using Huffman code. Write an optimization function for a 4 way traffic intersection, where vehicles are coming in from all directions. [Hint: Think cars as client in need of service arriving at an arrival rate and traffic light as the server process with a service rate] Drive the bit error rate of BPSK. Write a regular expression in Perl to search for a string pattern.( this was unexpected since I had told them I did not know perl ) How would you test a Modem if you get complaints from field about cell phones not working. Describe the test cases.

Questions were related to Wireless communications and Programming. Wireless Communications--- Shannon's rule, SNR, Bandwidth, Throughput, Difference between GSM, CDMA and LTE, Convolution concepts, call flow in LTE, L1-L2 layers, Modulation schemes. Programming--- C++, Python, bit manipulation, linked list, multiple inheritance, find out missing number in incoming random integers, test case plan, big picture for test cases etc.

Generally just standard behavioral questions such as how did this situation prepare you to think on your feet etc…
