Question about my expertise and experience
One team is working long weeks and cannot take vacations. They will likely lose some accrued vacation time due to business demands, and morale is suffering. Individuals on the team as well as the senior executive of the group ask you to advise. The policy governing expiration of PTO is determined by the board - it is completely inflexible and you cannot alter it in any way or offer any exceptions no matter how minor, nor can you offer any other financial concessions to the overworked team. What do you do? How do you preserve a great culture and retain these critical employees?
