One of the questions they asked me during the interview was related to basic statistics and understanding of data distribution. They specifically asked, “In which case is the median greater than the mean?” This question was meant to check whether I understood the concept of skewness and how different measures of central tendency behave when a distribution is skewed. I explained that the median becomes greater than the mean in a negatively skewed (left-skewed) distribution, where the tail extends toward the left, pulling the mean downward while the median stays closer to the central mass of the data.
